Cooperative Baptist Fellowship
Thank you and the Committee for the very generous scholarship. The Lord is truly blessing me just when I need him most in these days. Please extend my warmest and most heartfelt thanks to those who made this decision. Below is some informaiton about me and my educational/ministerial journey.
I hail from St. Francisville, Louisiana, where my father has recently retired as the pastor of First Baptist Church. I left there to attend college at Mississippi College from 2000 until 2003, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics. I then attended Truett Seminary at Baylor from 2004 until 2007, earning a Master's of Divinity in Theology. Beginning in the fall of 2010 and continuing until now I am progressing through the Doctor of Ministry program at Truett with an emphasis on Church Leadership. I have completed three of the four major seminars (the last one is this July) and am working on my culminating project at present. My project, at the moment, concerns helping a local Baptist congregation develop its own system of catechism to address what I have seen as a dearth of biblical and theological knowledge among the laity.
While at Truett I was called as the Pastor of First Baptist Church of Riesel, Texas, and served there for almost seven years. My wife, Lesley (whom I married in 2005 and also graduated with an M.Div. from Truett), was our children's minister. She now serves as the Associate Pastor for Children at Northminster Baptist Church. We are also expecting our first child in June.
Since moving to Jackson last summer I have gotten involved in the ministries of both Northminster and Madison Chapel. David Waugh has graciously given me more and more opportunities to preach at the Chapel, and I am confident that we can do a good work in that little church and larger community together. Apart from my ministerial duties I currently teach mathematics at The Veritas School.
Thank you again for your graciousness and generosity.

First off, I just wanted to say thank you to MS CBF for giving me a scholarship! This has been a great surprise!
This scholarship will come in handy for summer classes coming up in a few months.
I am from Leland, MS and am the son of Allen and Laura Clark of Leland, MS. I graduated from Mississippi State University in 2008 with a Bachelor's in Insurance and in 2010 with a Bachelor's in Business Information Systems. I was an employee of Mississippi State University Extension Service before answering the call to seminary. Currently I am enrolled at George W. Truett Theological Seminary at Baylor University in Waco, Texas and am currently pursuing a Master of Divinity with an emphasis in Sports Ministry and minor in Mission Studies. I am enjoying being a part of a new dual degree program that will combine a MDiv with a MBA. I am a member of First Baptist Church, Leland, MS. I have spent my time helping with the Youth program and will be returning to Leland in June 2012 to help partake in a Passport Camp mission in Macon, GA.
Peace and Grace,
